4 Victims Shot at Howe Park – Unsanctioned Gathering Turns Violent





On April 18 2026, an unlawful gathering of multiple hundreds of attendees at the Howe Park area in the Arden-Arcade section of Sacramento turned violent when an estimated 20 to 25 gunshots rang out as deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office were attempting to removing people from the park.

What Happened

Shortly after 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County law enforcement received reports regarding people potentially carrying concealed firearms at Howe Community Park. A second report described a potential physical confrontation and people leaving the area quickly.

Law enforcement air support was utilized and scanned the park but failed to identify an active fight.

Nonetheless, an estimated several hundred attendees had assembled at the location for what the sheriff's office identified as an unapproved assembly. Deputies formed a perimeter around the park, activated their vehicle emergency lights, and gave the crowd approximately 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse over their vehicle speakers.

While deputies were dispersing the crowd, 20 to 25 rounds of gunfire echoed through the area — causing hundreds to flee in a panic.

The Victims

Four people — three men and one woman, all in their 20s — were brought to area medical facilities. Two victims had injuries classified as immediate, one suffered moderate injuries, and one Arden Arcade shooting April 2026 with minor injuries. Each of the four victims was in stable condition. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire provided medical assistance at the location.

The Crime Scene

The shooting was centered on the Cottage Way corridor side of the park in the vicinity of the nearby Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. The Home Depot store was temporarily locked down. More shell casings were identified on Cottage Way, with bullet holes read more found in the iron fence near the Home Depot store — indicating shots fired in a southward here direction from along Cottage Way toward the store. Crime scene investigators and detectives combed the scene for evidence throughout the night.

The Suspect Vehicle

Over law enforcement radio traffic, it was confirmed that a suspect vehicle — a Kia automobile — was intercepted in nearby Solano County with four individuals detained. Sheriff's deputies were en route to collect the suspects and return them to Sacramento. Surveillance footage confirmed two gunmen were present.
